Cindi and Steve Murphy started Sugar Island Cupcakes on December 12, 2008 on Taylor street at the Punta Gorda Downtown Merchant's Association Farmers Market.
After much success, a search began for a home for our new cupcake venture. The perfect location was selected one street over. And now, our new location is 3769 Acline Road is even bigger! Dorothy Schrecengost from North Port, and Englewood, FL, joined our staff in April 2010 as a Bakery Manager. Dorothy is in charge of quality control & all things chocolate! She has also, retired to be closer to her family. We miss her smile and sweetness!
Milly Run from New York, started her career with Baked Occasions in 2007. Milly was Bakery Manager & Sugar Artist. Yes, she is young, but very talented. Milly has now retired, but will always be in our hearts. Yeah, Millly Vanilli!
Cindi Murphy from Indianapolis, moved from NW Chicago in 1998 and opened Baked Occasions Wedding Cakes, Port Charlotte in 2001. She is the Owner/Designer and Sugar Artist.
Steve Murphy from Indy and Chicago, retired and looked forward to a relaxing lifestyle in Punta Gorda. He was drafted and forced to work as the Chief Financial Officer. He has been banned from all actual work that goes on in a bakery.
Long before joining the family business in April 2011, Spokes Model and Heir to the Sugar Island Cupcake fortune, Kris Hargis knew her way around a cupcake. Rising through the corporate ranks, she was quickly promoted before her first day to Senior Vice President. Kris brings a special talent of being the boss's favorite.
